What our warranty covers
We guarantee our workmanship against peeling, blistering, flaking and cracking caused by how we prepared or applied the paint. If it fails during the warranty, we come back and repair it at no charge, including the paint.
What it doesn’t cover
Damage from water leaks, hail, impact, flooding or settling; fading from sun, which is normal over time; and mildew where a gutter or sprinkler soaks the same wall. If we see a cause like that, we’ll tell you at the estimate, not after.
Making a claim
Call or email with a photo. Marianne logs it, and a crew lead comes out within two weeks, sooner for an emergency.
Deposits and final payment
We ask for 10 percent to reserve your dates. The balance is due when the job is finished and you’ve done the final walk-through. You can pay by check, ACH, cash, or credit or debit card.
Financing
For projects of $3,000 or more we offer 12-month, same-as-cash payment plans through our lending partner, subject to credit approval. Ask Cole about it at your estimate, and the application takes about five minutes. We never require financing, and the price is the same either way.
Insurance and licensing
Hartwell & Sons carries $2 million in general liability insurance and workers’ compensation for every painter. We’re an EPA Lead-Safe Certified Firm, and we’re happy to send you a certificate of insurance for your HOA or landlord.
Estimates and payment
Is the estimate really free?
Yes. Cole or Wyatt comes to your home, measures, checks the surfaces and talks through what you want. You get a written estimate within two business days. There’s no fee and no pressure, and the price in writing is the price you pay unless you change the job.
How fast can you come out for an estimate?
Usually within three business days, evenings and Saturday mornings included. If your job is small, such as one room or a deck, send photos on our Free estimate page and we can often give you a number before we visit.
Do you take a deposit?
We ask for 10 percent to reserve your dates, and the rest when the job is finished and you’ve done the final walk-through with us. We never ask for the full amount up front, and we don’t take the last payment until you’re happy.
Why are your quotes higher than the guy with the truck?
Most of what you pay for in a paint job is preparation: washing, scraping, sanding, patching, caulking and priming. Quick, cheap jobs skip it, and the paint peels in two winters. Our quote lists the prep, the number of coats and the paint by name, so you can compare apples to apples.
How can I pay, and is there financing?
Check, ACH, cash, or a credit or debit card. For projects of $3,000 or more, we also offer 12-month, same-as-cash payment plans through our lending partner, subject to approval. See Warranty & payment for details.
