Color consulting
Choose colors you won’t second-guess
Beth comes to your home, looks at your light and your furniture, and helps you pick colors that work in the room you actually have.

What’s included
Ninety minutes, three kinds of light
Beth visits for about an hour and a half. She looks at the light in every room, your floors, counters and furniture, and the colors you already like. She leaves you with a shortlist and sample boards so you can live with them for a few days.
If you hire us for the project, the $175 is credited toward it.
- Your rooms, your light, your furniture
- Two or three colors per room, with sheens
- Large sample boards left with you
- Exterior colors for HOAs and historic homes
How a consultation works
- 1
Book a time
Pick a morning or afternoon. Beth also visits in the evening to see lamplight.
- 2
Walk the house
We look at the light, the surfaces and what has to stay the same.
- 3
Sample boards
Large boards go on the walls for a few days. Colors look different morning to night.
- 4
Decide
We confirm the colors and sheens, and put them in your written estimate.

Colorado light
Why a chip from the store can fool you
At 5,000 feet the sun is strong and the air is dry and clear. South and west rooms wash out light colors, and north rooms turn cool. A gray that looked warm in the store can look blue in your living room.
That’s why we sample on your walls, in your light, in the morning, at noon and at night.
From customers Beth has helped
- ★★★★★
“I’d bought eleven sample pots and hated all of them. Beth came for ninety minutes, looked at the light in my north-facing living room at three different times of day, and picked two colors. I haven’t second-guessed it once.”

“Marianne helped me pick colors over the phone and booked me in a month ahead. The crew painted every room before I moved in, and the baseboards are perfect. They even left a can of each color labeled for touch-ups.”
